Holy Family Icon

In this icon, Mary and Joseph are bowing their heads in reverence to Jesus, who is depicted as if he is seated on a throne—one of Mary’s titles is “Seat of Wisdom.” The overall theme is of a royal family, Our Lady’s tasselled robes are a sign of her Queenship, with St. Joseph coming from the line of the House of David.
